Margaret Pettyjohn
Executive Vice President, Retail Banking

Gabriel LeeAs Executive Vice President – Retail Banking, Margaret Pettyjohn oversees the bank’s network of 57 branches ensuring American offers excellent service and value to our individual and small business customers.

Prior to joining American in 2010, Pettyjohn served as Executive Vice President, Director of Retail Support & Delivery for The South Financial Group in Greenville, South Carolina, a bank with $13 billion in assets, where she was responsible for consumer product performance, bank-wide call center and retail information systems.  Earlier she served as Senior Vice President, Retail Deposit Product and Channel Manager.

Pettyjohn’s extensive banking career includes positions as Senior Retail Group Manager at Central Carolina Bank, Team Leader of Corporate Sales Effectiveness at National Commerce Financial, and Senior Consultant with National Commerce Bank Services. Pettyjohn began her banking career at National Bank of Commerce in Memphis, Tennessee, after receiving her Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Rhodes College in Memphis.
