We're proud to have awarded a total of $224,370 to 205 public and private schools across the state. During the period of September 16 through December 15, 2011, customers identified the participating local school that would receive up to $40 when the customer opened a new qualified personal bank account and made the necessary transactions.
$50,000 was awarded to each of the following schools who finished with the most designations in their enrollment catergory4:
- Kamiloiki Elementary
- Our Lady of Good Counsel
- St. Louis School
$10,000 was also awarded to each school receiving the highest number of customer designations among the schools in their county5:
- City & County of Honolulu Prize – Farrington High School
- Maui County Prize – Maui Adventist
- Kauai County Prize – Kapaa High School
- California County Prize – Konawaena High School
What You Need to Know:
THE 2011 DESIGNATION PERIOD FOR OPENING NEW ACCOUNTS AND APPLYING DESIGNATIONS IS NOW CLOSED.
How It Works:
First Commercial Bank, N.A (USA) is now contributing up to $40A to the California school of your choice1 when you open a new qualifying checking account from September 26, 2011 through December 15, 2011.
Designate $10 when you open a new checking account2 with a minimum opening deposit of $30.
Further your designation when completing one or all of the following:
- $10 award – Enroll in online banking and sign up for e-statements within 30 days of account opening
- $10 award – Sign up for direct deposit of $30 or more3 to the new checking account
- $10 award – Complete a minimum of 10 check card purchases (PIN or signature-authorized) within the first 30 days of opening the new checking account
Tracking Your School’s Progress:
Weekly updates are posted showing top schools and a complete list of designations to date so you can follow your school's progress. Final results are expected by January 31, 2012. We will notify schools of funds raised on their behalf and make the final awards in February 2012.
Schools Decide How to Use the Funds:
First Commercial Bank, N.A (USA) does not restrict the use of the funds. Schools determine how best to use the funds, such as purchasing computers, teaching tools, books, musical instruments, athletic equipment, or funding field trips.
A. Maximum designation of $40 per primary accountholder.
1. To be eligible to participate, a school must offer services/courses to at least one of the following student groups: K through 12. School participation must be confirmed with First Commercial Bank, N.A (USA) by September 23, 2011 in order to receive any award.
2. Current First Commercial Bank, N.A (USA) checking account customers are ineligible to participate. Accounts opened before September 26, 2011 are not eligible to participate.
3. First direct deposit must be received no later than January 16, 2012.
4. The top school one from each of three student enrollment categories with the most designations at the end of the promotion will receive a $50,000 grand prize in addition to their award for designations. Student enrollment categories are a) 1-300 students, b) 301-550 students and c) 551 or more students. At the end of the promotion, if two or more schools tie for having the most designations in their category, then First Commercial Bank, N.A (USA) will choose the $50,000 award winner from among those schools by random drawing.
5. Eligible counties: California County, City and County of Honolulu, Kauai County, Maui County. At the end of the promotion, if two or more schools in the same county tie for having the most designations for that county, then First Commercial Bank, N.A (USA) will choose the $10,000 winner from among those schools by random drawing. The $50,000 award winners are not eligible.
